55 Club - Responsible Gaming

55 Club responsible gaming: how to set deposit and time limits, recognise problem-gambling warning signs, self-exclude, and reach confidential 18+ support helplines.

Play within your limits

Responsible gaming starts with a simple decision: treat every rupee you deposit as entertainment spending, not an investment. At 55 Club we want your experience to be enjoyable, and that means staying in control at every step. A practical starting point is the 1% rule: never wager more than 1% of your monthly take-home pay in a single session. For someone earning ₹40,000 per month, that ceiling is ₹400 per day.

Before you top up your wallet, write down your budget for the week on paper or in a notes app. Keep gambling funds separate from your UPI-linked savings account, load only what you intend to spend into your 55 Club wallet rather than keeping a large balance available. Never chase losses: a losing streak does not mean a winning streak is "due," and increasing bet sizes to recover past losses is the fastest path to financial harm. Take a screen break every 45 minutes, and never play when you are tired, stressed or under the influence of alcohol.

Warning signs of problem gambling

Problem gambling develops gradually and many players do not notice the pattern until it has caused real damage. Watch for these signals in yourself: spending more than you planned on three or more occasions in a single month; feeling restless or irritable when you are away from the game; borrowing money or skipping EMI payments to fund deposits; gambling to escape anxiety or loneliness rather than for entertainment; and lying to family about how much time or money you spend playing.

If someone close to you shows unexplained financial shortfalls, secretive behaviour on their phone late at night, or extreme mood swings tied to winning and losing, those are equally serious red flags. Recognising three or more of these signs, in yourself or another person, means it is time to use the limit tools below or contact one of the helplines at the bottom of this page immediately.

Deposit, loss and time limits

55 Club provides built-in controls that let you cap your spending before emotions take over. Log in, go to Account → Responsible Gaming, and set any combination of the following limits: a daily deposit limit (e.g., ₹500/day), a weekly loss limit (e.g., ₹2,000/week), or a session time limit (e.g., 60 minutes per day). Once a limit is reached the platform will stop accepting further deposits or wagers for that period, the restriction takes effect immediately and cannot be shortened for at least 24 hours, preventing impulsive overrides.

These controls work alongside your payment app settings. On PhonePe and Google Pay (GPay) you can set a monthly UPI spend limit directly inside the app under Settings → Payment Limits. On BHIM, daily transaction caps can be configured under Profile → Daily Limit. Combining a platform-side limit on 55 Club with a UPI-level cap creates a two-layer safety net that is far more effective than willpower alone.

Self-exclusion and cool-off

If limits are not enough, 55 Club offers two stronger interventions. A cool-off period (1 day, 7 days or 30 days) temporarily suspends your account, you cannot log in, deposit or place bets for the chosen duration. A self-exclusion closes your account for a minimum of 6 months or permanently. Both options are available under Account → Responsible Gaming → Take a Break. Self-exclusion requests are processed within 24 hours; any remaining wallet balance is refunded to your original payment method.

Unlike simply deleting the app, which leaves the account open and marketing emails active, a formal self-exclusion blocks all re-registration attempts from the same device, phone number and email address. If you are unsure between a cool-off and full exclusion, choose the cool-off first; you can always escalate to self-exclusion at the end of the break if you feel you still need more time away.
